This new volume takes the reader on a journey of long ago around Lago d’Orta with the publication of a hundred or so splendid vintage postcards, most of which never before published, showing the most important places of the lakeside.

Topic: rediscovery of the collection of postcards of the Lago d’Orta, which belonged to Count  Gaudenzio Tornielli di Ameno, is an excellent opportunity for taking a new look at the landscape and history of the area of Cusio. Painstaking research, and a layout that gives maximum highlight to the evocative photographic work are what characterizes this prestigious volume, also documenting the important transformation that the new ways of communication brought about a century ago. The illustrations are grouped in an original way, by type: views, places of work, places of religion, tourist spots etc, from Gozzano to Omegna, from San Maurizio to Pogno and Pella, from Mottarone to Miasino, Ameno and Orta, this prestigious collection of illustrations never before published fixes an evocatively rich environment in history.
 

  

 

 

Editors: the work is edited by three scholars of the territory: historian Lino Cerutti and architects Stefano Corradi and Paolo Gattoni.

Publishing features: large volume (22 x 30,5 cms.), 160 pages, two-colour print and black on high quality ivory paper, canvas-paper-finished rigid hardcover binding with gilt headings and plasticized dustcover with colour photographs.

Translation: texts in Italian with endnote summaries in English, French and German.
